The Proposal Defense Meeting of Postdoctoral Fellow HongMei from CUHK SZRI Was Successfully Held

On the afternoon of November 18,  2025, the proposal defense meeting of Postdoctoral Fellow Hong Mei from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Shenzhen Research Institute (SZRI) was successfully held. Dr. Hong Mei is a member of the team led by Professor Dai Xianchi's team at the Laboratory of Behavioral Economics and Business Decision Research Center at CUHK SZRI.

This defense meeting was conducted both online and on-site simultaneously in the conference room on the third floor of Shenzhen Virtual University Park. The meeting invited distinguished experts Professor Zhou Zhimin from Shen Zhen University, Associate Professor Dai Xianchi from CUHK, Professor Liang Jianping from Sun Yat-sen University, Professor Xie Yi from Beijing Normal University Bay Area International Business School and Associate Professor Si Kao from University of Macau to form the defense committee, which assessed the proposal report. Other participants included Ms. Zhao Haiyan from the Postdoctoral Workstation of Shenzhen Virtual University Park, as well as Ms. Xu Siqi from CUHK SZRI.

Dr. Hong Mei delivered a presentation titled Valuation of Privacy Data Across Temporal Dimensions. This research examines how temporal dimensions shape consumers’ valuation of their privacy data and, in turn, influence their willingness to engage in related behaviors. Specifically, the project investigates how time affects the valuation of different types of privacy data, identifies the mechanisms that separately drive the valuation of past versus future privacy data, and clarifies the boundary conditions under which these effects occur. By providing empirical evidence on intertemporal privacy valuation, the study seeks to enrich our understanding of privacy data as an asset from a temporal perspective.

The defense committee members listened carefully to Dr. Hong Mei's presentation and had an in-depth exchange and discussion on the research content she plans to conduct during her postdoctoral period. They offered valuable suggestions for her research. Professor Dai Xianchi, the supervisor, summarized the key points of the committee's review. Finally, the defense committee unanimously agreed that Dr. Hong Mei passed the postdoctoral proposal assessment, with a qualified result.

The Laboratory of Center for Behavioral Economics and Business Decision at CUHK SZRI mainly focuses on Judgment and Decision Making, Motivation and Self Control, Intertemporal Choices. The laboratory currently has one postdoctoral fellow.
