Research Exchange Meeting cum Inauguration of Translational Urological Research Center at SZRI

On August 6, 2025, Professor NG Chi-Fai’s team from CUHK Faculty of Medicine and CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute (SZRI) jointly inaugurated the Center for Translational Urological Research. This milestone marks the institute’s first specialized platform for urological research, an extension of CUHK’s research excellence, and a deepening of Shenzhen-Hong Kong collaboration in basic and clinical research.

Professor YAM Yeung, Director of CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute (SZRI), welcomed Professor NG Chi-Fai's team's project launching at SZRI and expressed hope that the Center would achieve a series of accomplishments through the efforts of Professor NG and all team members. Dr. LIN Huangquan, Executive Director of SZRI, elaborated on the infrastructure and support service system of CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute, aiming to provide various forms of support and services for the team to carry out activities at SZRI. 

Professor NG Chi-Fai, team leader and head of CUHK's Division of Urology, outlined the center's mission: "By integrating drug testing platforms and clinical data bridges, we will catalyze disruptive innovations across the Greater Bay Area—advancing the Division's longstanding commitment to translating urological research into clinical impact." Moving forward, the Center will focus on high-impact clinical, fundamental, and translational research targeting major urological disorders, including urological malignancies, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and urinary calculi. it is positioned to become a preeminent hub for urological research, catalyzing paradigm shifts in disease diagnosis and therapeutic interventions across the Greater Bay Area—building on the Division's legacy of excellence. 

Prof. Franky Leung Chan from the School of Biomedical Sciences, Prof. Jeremy Yuen Chun Teoh, Prof. Peter Ka Fung Chiu, and Prof. Dinglan Wu from the Division of Urology, among others, attended the research exchange meeting and the inauguration ceremony of the Center.
